On Saturday, April 12, 2025, we conducted our fifth in-house CPD session for all school teachers, as part of their Continuous Professional Development journey. Teachers of the Primary Section and Secondary Section congregated in different venues for the workshop.
The sessions began with a brief recap of EFP Aim 1, focusing on rejecting single-use plastics and reinforcing our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility.
The primary focus of the day was the introduction of EFP Aim 2, which addresses reducing beef consumption and minimising food waste, along with their impacts on climate change.
Teachers, working in both large and small groups, explored the environmental effects of food wastage and beef production, particularly their contribution to climate change and the extinction of natural resources. The discussions were further enriched with culturally relevant insights on farming practices, local agriculture, traditional methods of purchasing and storing food, and the role of media in shaping modern food choices.
A key part of the discussion also highlighted Pakistan’s progress in promoting gender equality in agriculture by empowering women through learning opportunities and tools to enhance crop production.
To conclude, teachers developed year-wise lesson plans detailing how they will integrate this learning into their classrooms. The aim is to educate children on the environmental impact of food waste and beef consumption, encouraging mindful and sustainable food habits from an early age.
