As part of our school’s 70-Year celebrations, students sowed seeds and carefully nurtured them. When the seeds sprouted, they continued to look after the young plants, regularly observing and noting their growth. Once the plants were ready, it was time to shift them to their assigned area, which was the rooftop.
Since this collaborative activity was a continuation of the ongoing plantation project, and to ensure maximum participation, new teams were formed for the three houses, each comprising of 14 students – 7 from the Primary Section and 7 from the Secondary Section. Along with their House Captains and House Coordinators, students gathered in the garden area to carry out the important task of shifting the young plants to the rooftop.
Team members from Air, Sun and Water House picked up buckets from the garden area and carried them upstairs. In keeping with our school’s strong belief in recycling and reusing materials, an old donated bathtub was painted brown, and a wheelbarrow was repurposed as planters to avoid waste and promote environmental conservation. The students actively participated in filling the bathtub and wheelbarrow with soil, carefully shifting the plants, and watering them once they were placed on the rooftop. Students will continue to look after these plants when they return to school after their winter break.
