Rising Leaders of PECHS Girls’ School – Celebrating 70 Years of Excellence

As the PECHS Girls’ School proudly celebrates 70 years of excellence, the role of the Student Council stands as a reflection of our long tradition of nurturing leadership, responsibility, and student voice. The Council plays a vital part in building student agency and leadership. It serves as a bridge between students and the school leadership, ensuring that ideas, concerns, and interests are represented.

The Council is formed through a transparent election process. Candidates go through nomination, interviews, campaigning, and digital polling, while students from Years 6–10 participate in voting. This process not only introduces democratic values but also helps students develop key skills such as organisation, decision-making, public speaking, teamwork, and ethical campaigning.

The Student Council is made up of the following office bearers from Year 10: Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Sports Captain, and three Council Members.

Elected members plan and lead selected school events, where they collaborate with management to make thoughtful decisions.

The results for the 2025–2026 Student Council were announced on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.Following the announcement, the elected Council received their gowns and an Oath-Taking Ceremony was held, where they formally pledged to uphold their responsibilities with honesty, commitment, and dedication.

House Captains Election Announced

The House Captains’ Announcement Day was a momentous occasion, celebrating leadership and responsibility among our students. This year holds special significance as we introduced House Captains from the Primary Section as well. From this 70th year onwards, House Captains will be selected from Year 5 too, along with Year 10 students, making this event even more meaningful in our School’s 70th Year of celebration.

Serving as a House Captain is more than holding a title; it is a commitment to service, teamwork, and excellence. The selection process was carefully designed to be fair and transparent. It began with introduction sessions, where aspiring leaders were briefed about the expectations and responsibilities of the role. This was followed by filling out the nomination forms. Then the candidates went through personal interviews with a selection panel, where they showcased their confidence and communication skills.

The announcement ceremony was held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Selected House Captains from Year 10 were presented with gowns and from Year 5 with sashes. All the House Captains took the Oath for their new responsibilities and leadership roles.

This year’s inclusion of Year 5 leaders reflects the school’s dedication to nurturing leadership at an early age, empowering younger students to rise to the challenge and contribute their creativity and enthusiasm to the school community.
