Time Capsule: Holding our Words for 2035

In November 2025, as part of our 70th Celebrations, Year 10 students undertook a meaningful initiative titled “A Letter Through Time – From Year 10 to Year 1.” The idea was simple yet powerful that senior students wrote heartfelt letters to the current Year 1 pupils, sharing advice, memories, and words of encouragement. These letters will remain sealed for ten years and will be opened in 2035, when today’s Year 1 students reach Year 10.

The most memorable moment of this project was the burial ceremony of the time capsule. All Year 10 students gathered in the garden near the  Jaffri, filled with anticipation and pride. The Acting Principal, Secondary Section Headmistress, and teachers stood alongside them, marking the importance of the occasion.

As a small pit was carefully dug by the students, there was a noticeable hush among the students with a quiet realisation that they were taking part in something that would outlive their time at school. The carefully sealed letters, filled with hope and sincerity, were gently lowered into the ground with care, symbolising trust in the future and faith in the generations to come.

For many students, it was not just about burying letters, but about sealing a part of their own journey within the school grounds. There was pride in their eyes, yet also a hushed tenderness and understanding that time moves forward, but memories remain. In that moment, laughter softened into reflection, and each student felt connected not only to their present, but to the future that would one day uncover their words.

When the earth was covered and the painted wooden plank reading “Time Capsule Buried Here – Batch 2025-26” was placed above it, applause broke out. Smiles were mixed with emotion – students understood they had just preserved a piece of themselves for the future.

The ceremony was not just about burying letters; rather it was about planting memories. Beneath that patch of soil now rests a decade of dreams, waiting patiently to be rediscovered in 2035.
