A Walk through History: Year 4 Explores Ancient Civilizations & Heritage

On February 25, 2025, our Year 4 pupils went on an exciting trip to the National Museum, where they explored Pakistan’s rich history and cultural heritage. The visit was planned to help pupils understand their lessons better and witness historical artifacts up close. As they entered the museum, they were filled with curiosity and excitement, eager to discover the treasures of the past.

During their visit, they explored Indus Valley Civilization exhibits, including Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro, where they saw ancient pottery, tools, jewellery, and coins. They were fascinated by the items people used thousands of years ago, including metalware and stone-age artifacts. The pupils were especially amazed by the statues of Buddhas and the beautifully preserved Quran gallery. In the Coins Gallery, they saw coins from the Mughal dynasty, which excited them since they had studied them in their Social Studies class. The museum also displayed calligraphy, Islamic pottery, and cultural artifacts that helped them appreciate Pakistan’s artistic heritage.

One of the most memorable parts of the trip was the section dedicated to the Pakistan Movement. The pupils saw the belongings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal, which made history feel real to them. Seeing these historical objects deepened their understanding of Pakistan’s journey to independence. The trip was both educational and exciting, leaving the pupils with a greater appreciation for their country’s rich and diverse past and for the value of history and its importance in shaping the present and future.
