On January 21, 2025, three of our Primary Section pupils Zainab Kashif Year 3C, Romaisa Salahuddin Year 4C and Manal Fatima Year 5A represented our school for an exciting Math Olympiad hosted by the Happy Home School. This exciting competition brought together participants from five other schools, with each institution fielding a team of three students from Years 3, 4, and 5.
The Olympiad included several rounds including a one-minute challenge round, where the word problems had to be solved within a minute. The second round, a team challenge, required solving a picture puzzle of word problems and Mental Math sums involving BODMAS, percentages, fractions, and decimals. While the Year 3 pupils managed to solve the puzzle, the complexity of the sums posed a significant challenge.
The rapid-fire round, focused on fractions and percentages, the participants’ competitive spirit was evident as they raced to answer as many questions as possible. The final round tested their memory, with a 15-second picture display followed by a minute to answer related questions; a tough educational task.
The Olympiad proved to be a challenging yet enriching experience for our pupils, showcasing their problem-solving skills, teamwork, and competitive spirit.
