On Saturday, September 21, 2024, we organized a series of in-house CPD sessions. The aim was to promote best teaching practices, provide teachers with practical tools they can implement in their everyday teaching practices and enhance teachers’ professional skills. There were a total of four workshops in different venues led by different members of our faculty.
1. Meaningful Feedback on Pupil’s Work – for YGTs of Years 1 – 3
This hands-on session led by Ms. Sarah Ladhani, focused on reiterating the value of meaningful feedback and actually practising how to give constructive written feedback that makes sense to young children. The valuable discussion that followed the practise-session provided teachers with valuable insights. We look forward to seeing evidence of their learning in pupils’ notebooks.
2. Questioning Techniques – for YGTs of Years 4-5
Ms. Semeen Fatima and Ms. Saima Shiraz led a session on questioning techniques. A range of questioning techniques were shared which offered insight into how thoughtful questioning can promote deeper learning, particularly during assessments.
3. Questioning Techniques – for All our Urdu Teachers
Ms. Hameeda Inaam and Ms. Almas Zia conducted a workshop for all the Urdu teachers. Attendees learned how to craft purposeful questions that stimulate critical thinking, deepen engagement, and assess understanding both in classrooms and during exams.
4. Effective Communication: Building Bridges, Not Barriers
Led by Ms. Bushra Nasir and Ms. Ayesha Usmani, this session highlighted the importance of effective communication. Teachers explored strategies to enhance verbal and non-verbal communication and active listening, all aimed at building stronger connections with students, parents, and colleagues.
