Annual Sports Day

The PECHS Girls’ School organized the Annual Sports Day for the year 2016-17 in the NCC ground on January 20, 2017. The event showcased the sportsmanship of young, enthusiastic pupils and students who competed house-wise. A huge crowd of parents came to show their support and encourage the champions.

A wide variety of races were organised for Years 1 to 10. Each year was assigned a different race and there was a common race for all years i.e. The Fastest Sprinter Race.

The event began with a walk past of students representing their houses, led by their house captains (Air, Sun, Water) the chairperson and sports captain, followed by an Oath Ceremony and our National Anthem.

Children were given a wonderful surprise. The famous cricketer Younus Khan brightened the event with his presence!!! In addition to this Urooj Mumtaz, former captain of the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team also graced the occasion as a Guest of Honour.

As the races continued, the young cheerleaders titled Josh-o-Kharosh group along with the council members, who spent weeks training them, motivated the participants with their beautifully choreographed moves.

There was an amazing formation performance using house coloured duppatas, presented by students of Years 8-10, which received major appreciation. Students who could not take part in any race were involved in playing Indoor Games at the venue such as, darts, board-games and puzzles and they contributed points for their respective houses.
A throw-ball match had taken place in school, prior to the event, which was won by Water House adding 10m marks to the house points.

Parents, teachers, council members, contingent and admin staff races were also held to involve everyone. They were truly enjoyed by all.

The event was wrapped by a performance of Martial Arts presented by the students of Taekwondo Club and a song by students of Years 9 and 10 titled This one’s for you.

The overall winners of the day were Water House with a total of 123 points. In second place was Air House with a score of 99 points and Sun House coming in third with a total of 91 points.
