SPARC Visit Educates Pupils on Child Rights

On May 6, 2025, representatives from the Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) conducted an educational session on child rights for Year 4 pupils at our school. The initiative aimed to provide them with a foundational understanding of their entitlements, including an introduction to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

During the session, the pupils were introduced to the concept of rights, the distinction between needs and wants, and the fundamental rights afforded to every child under the UNCRC. The SPARC team explained key articles of the convention in an age-appropriate manner, ensuring that the pupils grasped its importance.

The SPARC team also emphasized the importance of children being aware of their rights as outlined by the UNCRC and how these rights can be safeguarded. The session was informative and contributed to the pupils’ enhanced understanding of child rights and the framework provided by the United Nations.
