Earth Day 2016

This year our school celebrated Earth Day in collaboration with the Earth Day Network (EDN), a nonprofit organization based in the US. EDN’s mission is to broaden and expand the environmental movement worldwide, which will help in building healthy, sustainable surroundings, dealing with climate change, and protecting the Earth for future generations.
EDN aims to plant 7.8 billion trees by the year 2020.

Earth Day’s Global 2016 Theme: Trees for the Earth.
We participated in this ‘Trees for the Earth’ programme. A whole week of activities were planned to create awareness amongst students about environmental and climatic issues. This was followed by an open mic event where the students shared the outcomes of their classroom activities.
We also plan on participating in EDN’s Canopy Project by planting trees in the year 2016 – 17. We wish to see every student participating in the plantation activity later this year.

We are pleased to announce that the Earth Day Network has acknowledged our participation and shared our contribution on their website. Please check this out on the following linkhttp://www.earthday.org/2016/05/03/earth-day-network-appreciates-teachers/
