Are You a Litterbug? – The Ongoing Project

At our school, promoting cleanliness and eco-friendly practices has been an ongoing effort for many years. Through various initiatives, we encourage students to care for their environment and take responsibility for their surroundings.

‘Are You a Litterbug?’ is an extension of these efforts, with a particular focus on keeping our school clean and litter-free. The project was launched on Monday, 12 October 2026, reinforcing the belief that cleanliness is a shared responsibility, not just the duty of our support staff.

As a first step, our House Coordinators and House Captains visited classrooms and placed a colour-coded bug indicator outside each classroom to reflect its level of cleanliness.

Through this project, students are encouraged to take ownership of their spaces by ensuring that classrooms and corridors are left clean after the day’s activities.

To promote self-reflection, students will observe the cleanliness of their own classrooms daily. On alternate days, House Coordinators and House Captains will check the classrooms and update the colour indicators.

  • Green Bug – Clean and tidy
  • Yellow Bug – Some improvement needed
  • Orange Bug – Needs attention
  • Red Bug – Significant improvement needed

The project is not about labelling or shaming students, but about providing a positive visual reminder to keep our school clean and litter-free. Through small, consistent actions, we hope to strengthen habits of responsibility and care that extend beyond the school and into our homes and communities.
