A Celebration of a Great Sufi Spirit

On Friday August 23, 2024, a special assembly was held to celebrate the timeless poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, the great Sufi poet and philosopher of Sindh. The assembly was a vibrant and enlightening event that honoured his contributions to literature, music, and spirituality.

The assembly began as always with a recitation of a Surah from the Holy Quran. What was different on this day? The translation was done in Sindhi by Anabiyah Naveed, 5B.

Paras Tariq of Year 5A gave an introduction to Shah Abdul Latif’s life, highlighting his deep love for Sindh and its people.

The beautiful melodies of Bhittai’s compositions were brought to life by our music teachers through traditional Sindhi music ,with pupils performing soulful renditions of his most famous songs. Pupils of Years 4 and 5 presented a Sindhi song. This was followed with a recitation of his poetry, where pupils of Years 6 eloquently expressed the profound themes of love, devotion, and unity found in his verses.
