Qualifications

Must have:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in English, Social Studies, Education, or a related field.

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Experience teaching English and Social Studies to Year 6.
• Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging, age appropriate lessons across both subjects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare engaging lesson plans that incorporate active learning strategies to enhance students’ understanding of English and Social Studies.
• Foster critical thinking, communication, creativity, inquiry, and analytical skills through meaningful classroom discussions and activities.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, participation, confidence, and respect for diverse perspectives.
• Provide individual academic support and guidance to students whenever required.
• Plan, deliver, and assess lessons in accordance with the requirements of the Year 6 curriculum, ensuring students are well prepared for assessments.
• Utilise technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the relevant curriculum and incorporate it into daily teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
• Design, prepare, and evaluate formative and summative assessments, including summative and Formative Assessments in accordance with curriculum requirements.
• Be organised, observant, adaptable, willing to take on challenges, and receptive to implementing feedback.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, share responsibilities, and contribute positively to the department and the school community.
