Our Student Council

The Student Council plays an important role in developing student agency and representation within the school. It serves as a bridge between the student body and school leadership, helping to communicate students’ ideas, interests, and concerns to the Principal, Headmistresses and Teachers.

The Council is made up of Office Bearers from Year 10. We have a Chairperson, a Secretary, a Treasurer a Sports Captain and three Council Members.

Student Council Elections

Students of Year 10 are eligible to stand for elections, while students from Years 6 to 10 participate in voting. The election process begins with an orientation session, followed by nomination forms, interviews, and shortlisting. Selected candidates then begin their election campaign. Voting takes place digitally on the designated polling day.

This process offers valuable learning opportunities for all involved. Candidates develop essential leadership skills such as, problem solving, getting organised, making decisions, facing setbacks, budgeting, public speaking and effective communication. At the same time, students who vote gain a better understanding of the democratic process and values. They learn how to make informed decisions, not to play favourites, and vote responsibly.

Once elected, the Student Council plans and executes various events including one fundraising event. After raising funds, Council Members consult with relevant members of the management team to help them decide thoughtfully, where and how to donate the proceeds. Through this process, they develop real-world experiences in teamwork, empathy, compassion, social responsibility, and learn what it means to support meaningful causes in the wider community.
