Emergency Evacuation

At our school, the safety of children is our top priority. To prepare for emergencies such as fire or natural disasters, we conduct Emergency Evacuation Drills in a structured manner.

The aim is to familiarise children and staff with the correct exit routes and procedures so that, in case of a real emergency, everyone can evacuate quickly, calmly, and safely.

Drills are scheduled to be conducted twice per term. The target evacuation time is 3 minutes from the moment the alarm sounds to when everyone reaches the designated safe area outside the school.

Procedure

– Children exit the building in an orderly manner following designated exit routes
– Each Year Group is supervised by their teacher, and attendance is checked before and after the drill
– All staff members, including ancillary staff, have defined roles to assist and ensure no child is left behind
– Placards are used to help students gather by Year Groups, in designated safe spots outside the school

Expectations

– Children are expected to remain calm, walk briskly (not run), and follow their teacher’s instructions
– No child is allowed to return to the building until the drill is over
– Teachers carry out practice drills beforehand so students are confident and prepared

This regular practice builds awareness and confidence, helping children respond responsibly and safely in any emergency situation.
