We discourage tuitions because it is our primary responsibility to teach children in our school and we offer various kinds of support at different developmental stages. In addition to this, children also get confused in terms of methodologies and fulfilling instructions given to them by their school teachers and their tuition teacher.
We organise various forms of support (mentioned below) for children who struggle with difficult concepts, skills or methodologies. The responsibility for these forms of support lies with the respective HM and AHM.
Extra Learning Support Sessions (ELSS) are for the Primary Section, and Specific Learning Tutorials (SLTs) are for the Secondary Section.
Extra Learning Support Sessions
ELSS are for those children who require additional support in specific subjects. These special classes aim to address individual learning gaps, reinforce key concepts, and build students’ confidence through one on one and small group interactions.
ELSS for Years 1 and 2 will provide English Proficiency Sessions, which include conversation and individualised reading sessions. Support for Urdu reading and spellings will also be provided to children who require extra support.
We have two full-time teachers dedicated to English and Urdu ELSS classes. They will work with children outside the classroom to support them so that they catch up with their year group. They may also spend time in the classroom, supporting children who need extra help.
Under special circumstances pupils from Years 4 and 5 may be referred for support with the English and Urdu Support Teachers.
ELSS for Years 3 – 5 will provide support in English, Urdu and Maths. These sessions will be led by subject teachers, and will provide focused support in small group settings, allowing for personalised attention and effective progress. The sessions are scheduled once a week on Fridays, within school hours, but outside regular lesson times, to ensure minimal disruption to the academic timetable.
If your daughter has been identified for ELSS by her YGT, through a thorough process in consultation with the HM, you will be informed via Google Classroom.
Specific Learning Tutorials
SLTs for Years 6-10 are designed to provide targeted, focussed support to students for specific concepts, specific skills or certain methodologies that they are struggling to comprehend. Conducted by Subject Teachers, SLTs aim to cater to the individual learning needs of students.
SLTs are offered thrice a week during the Flex Fusion Slot which is the first slot in the morning.
For Years 6 – 10, SLTs are offered for Core Subjects. These may also be scheduled for Computer Studies and Social Studies if students make a request.
For Years 9 & 10, SLTs are for optional subjects and Urdu.
Students are given the agency and choice to decide whether they will opt for SLTs or not.
In our experience, more often than not, they do take ownership for their own learning by signing up for SLTs independently. Sign-up sheets are placed in every classroom beforehand, and students sign up for SLTs which take place at different venues as per the schedule.
Students can sign up for more than one SLT a day and move from one venue to another. Students bring their queries to the SLT session and the assigned subject teacher explains to them individually or in small groups if more than one student has the same question.
