Clubs at PECHS Girls’ School

As stated in our Mission & Philosophy, we aim to offer a range of activities that will engage children’s varied interests, so that they develop as secure, confident young citizens, well equipped to thrive and contribute positively to society. Therefore, our Clubs are part of our teaching, built into our regular weekly timetable. We don’t refer to them as extracurricular or co-curricular activities; Clubs are an integral part of our Curriculum for Years 3 – 10.

From year to year, we change Club activities based on children’s interests or needs identified by the children themselves, staff and parents. Over the last three years, we have had a variety of clubs to cater to the diverse interests of our students. Our clubs focus on physical and mental health, emotional wellbeing and creative expression. Some examples are:

Skating, A Range of Games, Yoga, Taekwondo, Fix It, Keeping Fit, IT, Photography and Photoshop and Innovators, Thread and Needle, Theatre, Clay & Pottery, Props, Textiles and Screen Stalkers.

At the beginning of very academic year students are given the choice to enrol in two clubs from a total of 14, one during each term. This not only provides them with the opportunity to make decisions about what they learn and to follow their own interests, but also equips them with a wide range of skills. Along with the obvious benefits of our club periods, the students discover the joys of: interacting with mixed age groups, experimenting in a safe place and discovering their own talents and creativity.
